The Recruiter have just announced the shortlist for the Recruiter Awards 2018; having been selected for the Best New Agency category Andrew Broster talks about launching a recruitment business in the current climate and shares his secrets on how to stand out from the crowd.

 

1. How excited are you to have made the shortlist?

The team here at Broster Buchanan are absolutely delighted to hear the news that they have been shortlisted for the Best New Agency 2018 award; there has been a real buzz across all of the offices.

Over the past three years we have been very fortunate to work with some fantastic clients and candidates and as we spread the word about this exciting news the sense of support and encouragement we have had has been incredible.

 

2. Is now a good time to launch a recruitment business?

 

The past 12 months have been another great year of developing relationships, supporting our customers and learning new things, whilst enjoying the challenges of growing a young business in the UK.

Our business model is based on experience and relationships and in a complex talent acquisition market this expertise is really valued. There will always be opportunities for any new recruitment business who keep a clear focus on quality of service and staying relevant according to the changing needs of their clients.

 

3.  Where does your shortlisting stand in your agency’s list of achievements since launch?

 

Being shortlisted for The Best New Agency 2018 feels like a real milestone and has to be positioned high on the list of our achievements to date, alongside supporting our clients and candidates.

It really matters to us that this award is voted on by HR, Talent and Recruitment experts across the UK and is a real testament to the team’s hard work, quality client & candidate service and dedication to establishing a new brand within the sector.

 

4.  How have you found the past year?

 

2017 was another great year and the support we have had from our clients and candidates has been fantastic, helping us to achieve many things.

We launched a further four new divisions; Sales & Marketing, Professional Services, Executive Search and Talent Solutions; we opened a new office in Newcastle, widening our footprint across the North East and giving our clients national coverage; the business grew 78% compared to 2016 and with our new employees our combined level of experience is now well over 250 years.

 

5.  What have you got coming up in 2018?

 

The start of 2018 has been very busy and we expect this to continue. We have ambitious plans for this year again and alongside an emphasis on building our existing teams across the UK to help candidates and clients with their searches we are considering 3 further locations and 2 other sectors. We will also always have an ongoing focus on our corporate responsibility to society and giving something back.

Last year we raised in excess of £3,000 for our 3 selected charities – Addenbrookes Neonatal Care Unit, Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital and Ronald McDonald House; and donated a further £1,350 to other charities during the course of the year.

Some of the team are already back on the golf course honing their skills for the next charity golf tournament whilst others have kick started their new year fitness regime training for their next mud run!

 

6.  You are looking to grow your teams – what would you say are the advantages of working at Broster Buchanan?

Winning the Best New Agency 2018 award would be a significant achievement for everyone associated with Broster Buchanan and a real show of faith in our service levels and delivery.
